From 28 to 31 July, Riga is hosting the regional training “Mass Relief and Humanitarian Logistics for Baltic National Societies and Civil Protection Counterparts”, bringing together representatives of the Baltic Red Cross National Societies and civil protection authorities.

The four-day training aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical skills in planning mass relief operations, organizing humanitarian logistics, and enhancing cooperation during large-scale emergencies.

The programme covers needs assessment, relief planning and implementation, procurement, warehouse and inventory management, supply chain organization, as well as international cooperation and emergency response mechanisms. Participants also have the opportunity to learn from the experience of the Ukrainian Red Cross in responding to a prolonged humanitarian crisis.

The training will conclude with a practical simulation exercise, during which participants will apply the knowledge gained by planning relief operations, organizing humanitarian logistics, and coordinating with public authorities and international partners.

The training was implemented as part of the project “Baltic Civil Protection Cooperation for Complex Emergencies”, aimed at strengthening cooperation among responsible authorities and enhancing public safety in emergency situations. The project is funded by the European Union under the “Knowledge for Action in Prevention and Preparedness (KAPP)” Grant Programme.
