From 19 to 21 August, the Latvian Red Cross, together with the State Fire and Rescue Service and Riga City Council, is training representatives of state institutions, municipalities, and NGOs on how to act in crisis situations when it is necessary to establish and operate an evacuation point.

During the training, participants learn:

  • how to set up and manage an evacuation point;
  • how to register and support residents;
  • how to provide first aid and psychological first aid;
  • how to ensure basic needs (food, water, hygiene, safety, etc.).

This knowledge is essential so that, in the event of disasters or other threats, residents can receive safe temporary shelter and the necessary assistance at evacuation points established by municipalities.

The training is implemented within the framework of the project “Baltic Civil Protection Cooperation for Complex Emergencies.”
