Health Days – a celebration of motion, joy, and unity

04.08 2025 Health promotion

Healthcare and social care workers selflessly care for the well-being of others every day, yet their dedicated efforts often go unnoticed. That is why it is important to remember – in order to help others, we must first take care of ourselves. The annual Health Days for Latvian healthcare and social care workers serve as a vivid affirmation of this truth.

From August 1 to 3, the 24th Health Days took place at the “Puduri” recreation complex, bringing together 25 teams. The weekend was filled with a spirit of competition, positive emotions, and friendly rivalry. As every year, the event was organized by the Latvian Red Cross (LatRC).

More than 1100 participants, 20% of whom were children under the age of 12, tested their skills in volleyball, women’s football, tug of war, family, tourism, and fun relays, as well as fishing, triathlons for both adults and children, and the traditional Latvian card game Zole. The youngest attendees expressed their creativity in the children’s tent – drawing, gluing, painting, and painting themselves too!

A heartfelt congratulations to the Dundaga team “Kukū”, who for the second year in a row claimed 1st place overall and took home the specially crafted traveling trophy!

We extend our sincere thanks to all our supporters and sponsors:
the Ministry of Health, the Latvian Medical Association, the Latvian Health and Social Care Workers’ Trade Union, the tourism center “Eži”, the “Puduri” recreation complex, Nestle Baltics, Latvian Catering Company SIA, and the entire LatRC team for their professional and responsible work in organizing and running the event.
Special thanks to Dr. Hosams Abu Meri, Minister of Health of Latvia, for being present with the Health Days participants.

At the closing ceremony, participants shared a united call:
See you again at the 25th Health Days in 2026 – as always, on the first Saturday of August!

Thank you all for the positive energy we created together – it gives us strength for the road ahead, both in life and at work.
Together we can help!
