On 19 February 2018, a contract was concluded between the association “Latvian Red Cross” and Society Integration Foundation on motivation and support service provision to socially excluded persons and persons subjected to discrimination risk in Ziemeļlatgale, Vidzeme and Riga regions.

Project implementation period: February 2018 – May 2019

Objective: to provide motivation and support services (change agents and other professionals, individual and group consultations, support and self-help groups, informative and educating events and other services stipulated in the Cabinet Regulations and as a result of profiling, etc.), to socially excluded persons and persons subjected to discrimination risk due to age, gender, disability, and ethnic background, facilitating their inclusion in the society, social life, creating understanding of their rights, helping to get involved in education/training, qualifications.

Project implementation place: Ziemeļlatgale, Vidzeme, Riga region.

Total budget of the project: EUR 252,000.00

Motivational and support services will be available free of charge

to socially excluded persons and persons subjected to discrimination due to gender, persons after parental leave, persons suffered from violence, persons who take care of other family member, and single parent family members;
to persons subjected to the risk of social exclusion and discrimination who are subjected to the risk due to their age (persons after the age of 50);
to socially excluded persons and persons subjected to discrimination due to disability, including unemployed persons with disability, persons with disability and low educational level;
to socially excluded persons and persons subjected to discrimination due to ethnic background, including Roma people and other ethnic minorities.
The programme employs three regional coordinators: Kristīne Besedina in Riga region, Gunta Stepiņa in Ziemeļlatgale region, Sandra Našeniece in Vidzeme region.

The goal of the motivational and support services to the target group is to provide individual concultations with the change agent (social worker), psychologist, career consultant, lawyer’s consultations and support groups led by specialists on topical matters, during which participants will be motivated to change, life skills will be developed, especially skills that allow the person to become part of society, to start looking for job, to get involved in employment, including self-employment, education/training or qualification.
