“Positive Aging Hub” – for a life after 55 that is active, meaningful, and fulfilling!

Both Latvia and Lithuania face a shared societal challenge: an aging population. With an increasing number of people reaching retirement age, it is crucial to ensure that aging does not mean isolation, loneliness, or a passive lifestyle. Unfortunately, many older adults, especially in rural areas, feel forgotten — lacking opportunities for engagement, social connection, information, and support.

In response to these challenges, the “Positive Aging Hub” project aims to improve the quality of life for people aged 55 and over in Šiauliai (Lithuania) and Ludza (Latvia) by developing innovative models of Positive Aging Centres.

Project Duration: March 2025 – February 2027

Main Project Activities

  • Establishment of Positive Aging Hubs – dedicated spaces where every person aged 55+ can access meaningful activities, support, companionship, and inspiration.
  • Implementation of the “Having – Doing – Loving – Being” (HDLB) model – a holistic approach that addresses not only practical needs, but also emotional, social, and personal well-being.
  • Volunteer training and education – to ensure that the support provided is both professional and compassionate.
  • Development of 9 new service initiatives – designed to promote well-being, encourage active lifestyles, and help build new social connections among older adults.
  • Widespread outreach and communication – both online and within local communities, to raise awareness and increase participation.
