From July 5 to 13, one of the most vibrant and emotional cultural events in Latvia took place in Riga – the 13th Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival, which brought together more than 38 000 children and young people from all over the country. This grand event was filled not only with music, dance, and the joy of being together, but also with care for the health of the participants.

As is tradition, the presence of the Latvian Red Cross first aid (FA) providers was an integral part of the festival. Nearly 100 trained professionals worked wholeheartedly to ensure a sense of safety for every participant and, when needed, to provide assistance. Bruises, scrapes, heat exhaustion, and other minor incidents – the FA team was always there, responding quickly and professionally.
First psychological aid was also provided to children and young people who needed emotional support while dealing with stress or nervousness before the important performances.

In 18 places across the festival area – from Daugava Stadium to the Great Stage in Mežaparks – the LatRC FA providers ensured continuous presence and support.

This cooperation would not have been possible without excellent teamwork: we thank the Emergency Medical Service, the State Police, the Municipal Police, other services, festival organizers, and volunteers for a peaceful and safe festival!

And, of course, the biggest thanks go to every festival participant – for the beautiful songs, graceful dance steps, and the heartfelt atmosphere that filled Riga with joy and positive energy!

Together we can help!
