Before you throw it away – think!
One of the activity areas of the association “Latvian Red Cross” (hereinafter – LRC) is providing humanitarian aid to people who cannot afford basic necessities (food, clothing, textbooks, etc.). The LRC acts as a support organization to state institutions in the field of humanitarian aid and, within its capacity, provides assistance to socially vulnerable residents (persons in need, low-income individuals, persons with disabilities, people released from places of detention, etc.), as well as institutions working in the social field.
LRC committees operate throughout Latvia, distributing humanitarian aid packages to low-income families, hospitals, rural schools, libraries, former prisoners, etc. LRC Committees have humanitarian aid points where it is possible to donate and receive items (clothing, footwear, clothing accessories, various textile products, and other items).
If you would also like to share items that are in good condition and usable but no longer needed by you, they can be donated at all humanitarian aid collection points. We kindly ask you to contact the relevant humanitarian aid point before donating items.
If you know a person who has found themselves in a crisis situation, please inform them about the opportunities to receive assistance at LRC humanitarian aid points. Do not pass by!

Frequently asked questions:
What items can be donated?
We encourage donating clothing and footwear (for adults and children), blankets, bed linen, hygiene and household goods, books, toys, stationery, and materials for handicrafts. All donated items must be clean and in usable condition.
If you wish to donate office or household equipment, furniture, renovation materials, or food for one of the LRC projects, please contact the relevant LRC committee in advance.
Will my donation end up in an LRC shop?
The LRC receives used clothing as humanitarian aid, which committees distribute to people in need. Part of the donated items is distributed free of charge (to socially vulnerable and low-income persons, people in crisis situations, expectant mothers looking for baby clothes, social workers responsible for further distribution, and LRC members).
Items sold in LRC low-price shops are received from foreign donors. Items donated by local donors are transferred to LRC low-price shops only if the donor has explicitly agreed to such use. The same principle applies in Red Cross shops in other countries.
